Ron Groeneveld
Ron Groeneveld and his family lived outside of Rotterdam. He was sixteen years old when the war started. After watching the Rotterdam bombing he joined the Dutch Resistance. Ron's family had a barn on their property. It was seventy feet long and forty feet wide. Half of the barn was used for their cows, the other was for hay. In the winter of 1942-1943 Ron's father built a secret hideout inside the hay to hide from the Nazis. When the Germans were collecting young men to work in factories, Ron hid in the secret room and lived there for two and a half years.
